SHN Awards

Burr Oak Commons, a Treplus Community, has been selected as a nominee in the Active Adult category of  the 2020 Senior Housing News (SHN) Architecture & Design Awards which recognizes cutting-edge design, excellence, and innovation in senior living. Winners will be announced on December 15, 2020.

In this competition, judges will evaluate three key areas of criteria including design & aesthetics, community integration, and amenities, lifestyle, & wellness to assign one overall score.  Design & aesthetics will include an evaluation of the community look and features with relevance to layout, Universal Design elements, color, light, creativity, sustainability, and exterior views including landscape architecture.   Community integration will identify the effectiveness of how the community is positioned  within the overall area and focus on features that promote access to nearby/walkable amenities, design features that are a good fit with the neighborhood, and accessibility to local area resources. Judges will also evaluate the community’s features that incorporate a healthy lifestyle and provides residents access to products and services that make their lives easier.
