Changing how you walk, can actually change your mood.

We all know our mood can affect our thoughts, and vice versa.

But did you know your mood can also be affected by your posture? And the way you walk. People who are sad often move a bit more slowly, with shoulders slumped, while those who are happy tend to have more of a bounce in their step.

An article about walking and mood in Psychology Today refers to a study that shows positivity helps create an energized state of mind with feelings such as excitement and enthusiasm. So if you're feeling as if you have low energy, maybe a brisk walk can be just the thing.

Walk now, and you might not need a nap later.

Even if you can't get in the "great outdoors," if you can get to walking paths in the "local outdoors," being out in the sun and being sensitive to the sights and sounds around you, can help your mood. If you can find a partner to walk with, the camaraderie can make you feel even better.

Can't find a human friend?

If you want to get outdoors, and bring some joy to a dog so they can get their daily dose of sunshine, you can also volunteer to walk dogs at Pets Without Parents, they're always in need of helping hands, and hearts.

So get out there and cheer up!
