UPDATE: Residents and staff collected over 650 cans of food to donate!
Thank you for your generosity!
Treplus Communities will present a canned food drive from December 1-20, 2022. A challenge has been launched at every Treplus Communities' location in Central Ohio and Dayton to see who can collect the most cans and gain "bragging rights." The local community is invited to drop off non-perishable food items for donation. Donations will be picked up and distributed by Food Rescue US, an organization that has been sharing a volunteer opportunity with active adult residents in Dublin, Delaware, and Pickerington, Ohio this Fall.
Building A Sense of Community
A canned food drive builds "community" and is a "hands-on" way to join the movement against hunger. Canned food drives are an important source of non-perishable food for programs that stock food banks, soup kitchens, vulnerable active adults and seniors, orphanages, refugees, and victims of disasters. A strong sense of "community" is a key aspect of an active adult lifestyle. A close-knit community offers support in times of trouble, celebration during joyous moments, and companionship in day-to-day activities.
The Commons, a resort-quality clubhouse offers the space and environment for an engaging resident experience. Each community has a residents activity committee (RAC) that directs and leads creative social, physical fitness, intellectual/educational programming, volunteerism, entertainment, and events. By definition, Active Adult communities are comprised of residents 55+ who are actively engaged in some or all of these areas in their lives – often with lots of experience that they may want to share with others.
